ISO Country Codes
Introduction
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) defines three sets of country codes known as ISO 3166-1: alpha-2, alpha-3, and numeric. These codes provide a standardized way to identify countries for various purposes.
Alpha-2 Codes
The ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codes consist of two-letter country codes, such as "BE" for Belgium or "US" for the United States. They are the most widely used of the three sets and are commonly found in passports, international addresses, and other official documents.
